One of a kind- handmade rings

l love Opal so when I heard and saw the Aurora Opal I went crazy for it. Everywhere I saw it advertised it said natural Aurora Opal. It was so exciting I had not heard of it before. Where can it be found? It took some research for me to discover this “natural” aura Opal is just very pretty plastic. It made me sad and yet it was quite expensive for plastic. Then one day I was collecting wood and rocks from my home in the Sierra Foothills when I came across the rarest of Giant Sequoia trees. They are breathtaking and I’ve never seen another one but that’s because I live in the only place in the world they grow. Next to it it was a MADRONE TREE also rare. They both had a reddish color resin not sap but resin on the outside of the tree bark. There was clumps on the ground too. So I scooped some up thinking I’d use it as wax in my art journals. Many months later after working with it and seeing how incredible it truly is I have started creating Opal bezels using this as my base and adding a variety of different Mylar flakes, mica powders and paints. I use epoxy resin as a top layer and realize it is man made but it does have natural tree resin which I think is better than any plastic. I use recycled metals and vintage button covers for the bezel. After I lost my home and studio in a wildfire I have decided not to buy more unnecessary materials using what I have on hand. This includes some items I was able to preserve from the fire and vintage items I’ve collected. mixed metals like gold and sterling that clumped together during the fire so recycled metals. I love this amber Opal ring. It’s become my new favorite and is so much prettier in person. Giant Sequoia trees are so incredible I feel honored to have it as my base and inspiration for these one of a kind pieces. I hope you think they are cool too. Thank you so much for reading this. 🌟Maintenance suggestion: All metal has a museum wax coating of Renassaince Wax to preserve the shine or the patina. I recommend wearing Silver in the shower since is will polish it up every time you dry off with a towel. I sleep in silver too without any trouble but if you have a reaction with silver against your skin please refrain from wearing it longer than a few hours at a time.
Sterling Silver is known as an hypoallergenic material, which also make it soft and easy to be bent. Usually you can fix it by yourself. Please contact us if it’s a unfixable problem.
